I've tried to explain why these are a really big deal to a number of people, and they just don't seem to get it. They can't even link the "it is dangerous for this information to be aggregated like this" with all of the stories about "some data that ought not to be disclosed was disclosed today..."

Unfortunately, the American people aren't going to care enough about something like this until *after* the abuse stories start getting out...
