It’s interesting how suddenly the term is everywhere; representatives of large infosec companies (at least here in Finland) use “cyber” constantly, legislators as well. I find the umbrella term closer to marketing and hence, unprofessional. Also, Christopher Soghoian’s take on “cyber” is worth listening to.

Let’s forget about the word ‘cyber’ for the moment, and focus on the other word in the title: ‘resilience’. The idea of resilience in computer engineering isn’t new, but it seems to be getting renewed interest. I’m interested to know how guarding against information disclosure can be ‘resilient’. If information has been disclosed, it’s been disclosed. Though I suppose you can design such that disclosure of one item does not imply access to everything…
