@ ALL,
AI and it’s “Doom Loop” of you loose
How long before the Debt Bubble behind the AI hype can nolonger be constrained?
Well the US Treasury is already effected as are the bond markets which some people are now injecting in the “junk” word…
For some entertaining insight on this,
“Ed Zitron: Microsoft Has $80 Billion Of AI Chips It Can’t Plug In”
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=es4FfRU8saQ
And it’s not just Microsoft…
Worse it’s all purchased with debt, and the data centers needed will be built by incurring more debt, the racks and networking more debt and with 8billion USD or so of just copper alone in a data center it can be seen that the debt is going to be massive.
Of course the question arises of,
“Who is going to pay”…
The answer is “You” by the US printing more money and those who invest for you via “Retail Finance” due to the madness of FOMO pumping your pension etc into the “hole in the ocean” AI Financing now is.
The harsh reality is the ROI on AI is so elusive the “will-o’-the-wisp” appears as a mountain in comparison.
Worse as far as we can tell the real earnings by AI companies is dropping for several good reasons. And the companies as they are still private are hiding it behind bogus reporting like the faux ARR that is as Ed Zitron notes, fraud or it should be…
But as noted the AI companies have no IP, no moat, and China is cutting everything AI down faster than Indonesian logging… Whilst none of the US AI companies have any customer “lock-in”…
But more recently is the 3rd Circuit US appeals case that kills the AI companies arguments of fair use / “we’re special” about copyright,
https://www.courthousenews.com/ai-training-of-copyrighted-material-not-fair-use-third-circuit/
And the just in news Meta are going to have free “scraping” rights over every bit of data you make available through them,
You can in theory eat tulip bulbs but the message is there is nothing AI can offer in comparison.

AI comes up with a very plausible origin of some of the ECDSA curves. It does cryptanalysis on the seeds, traces it to a common PRNG algorithm, and then finds the seeds for the PRNG, which it determines was the unix timestamps. The AI is incredulous that we never figured this out and questioned it’s place in the universe.

U.S. farmers are borrowing more and taking longer to repay over US$600 billion in debt.
Farm-held debt in the United States is at a record high. Bankruptcy has continued to rise over this decade, with no relief to the increase in input and other costs in sight. Some states have seen bankruptcies grow by 50%, as farms have taken a large hit to incomes.
It is likely that changes in how farmers borrow is hiding the full risk that they carry.

Directed Energy Biological Effects
After the Pentagon purchased and tested an energy weapon, the Department of Defense has changed the term used for cases of directed energy exposure to DEBE. It has renamed the task force for investigating cases to the “Directed Energy Bio-Effects Cross-Functional Team”. The Department of Defense is also shifting its approach to countering the effects of directed energy exposure.
“The designation is an explicit recognition that directed energy has matured to a level of technological readiness that enables practical weaponization. Advances over the past two decades have collectively transformed the systems from experimental laboratory capabilities into deployable military assets.”
It is now left with the Pentagon (and others) to get with times and refrain from overlooking the evidence. Recognizing that portable systems developed by the Russian military were deployable by the 1980’s, will take longer for some to accept. Sputnik made the headlines as it was observable as it orbited the Earth. More covert devices, specifically designed for tradecraft, have long been shrouded in secrecy, with the facts of their existence, details of design, and accounts of their deployment only emerging once declassified.
Other systems used by covert services for many decades remain secret and uncommercialized, despite incorporating well known technologies and techniques in novel and unique ways. The
large majority not being weapons, with those that are utilizing the classical methods.

Routers shipped by Broadcom to Belgium contain bugs which can be exploited over WiFi, giving a shell with root access or recovery of the WiFi key. The vulnerabilities date back to 2010, and an incomplete patch later released by Broadcom for its implementation of 802.11, did not resolve the issue. The bugs can be triggered without knowing the WiFi password or completing WPS enrollment, by an attacker in range of the vulnerable devices.
Given that the firmware for these devices is 16 years old, it is unlikely the problem will be fixed. Internet providers are still shipping these devices to their customers in 2026.

@ ResearcherZero, ALL,
Indian CA believes joke in XKCD cartoon.
Speaking of
“Routers shipped by Broadcom to Belgium contain bugs which can be exploited over WiFi, giving a shell with root access or recovery of the WiFi key.”
An Indian Certificate Authority can make your eyes really go “What the …” And if you are in mid sip “your coffee hit the screen”.
So please put the coffee down before you read on 😉
From,
By way of a gentle build up,
“The CA of concern in this case is called eMudhra, which boasts of having issued over 60 million digital certificates to help usher in a world of digital trust.
The company has instead panicked the world.”
And for good reason… We probably all remember this XKCD cartoon,
Well…
The register article, makes a couple of points then goes on to say,
“The latter question is of great interest because security researcher Scott Helme analyzed eMudhra’s certs and found one the private keys it used “is the number 4.”
“Not a number that starts with 4, or the number 4 followed by a few hundred random digits, just, 4… Another one is 56, and another is 115. I know, because I recovered all of them from their public certificates on my laptop just now, and it took less than a second,” Helme wrote.
Other researchers have found private keys including the numbers 66, 155, 156, 230 and 237.”
Yup, I’ll let you now go get something a bit stronger than a cup of coffee…
I could go on but I suspect our host @Bruce will have something to say on the matter 😉

A wise person has supposedly said these historical words:
Two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I am not yet completely sure about the universe.
Whether this quote is true or not, the wisdom of these words is widely appreciated.
This case shows, maybe not actualized infinite stupidity, but at least that the depths of human stupidity are beyond comprehension.
PS: It is widely believed that the universe most likely is not infinite.

@ Winter, ALL,
With regards,
“PS: It is widely believed that the universe most likely is not infinite.”
Yup “As far as we can see”, but what comes after that… Then there is that “multi-universe” stuff used by people who should know better trying to explain Quantum Computing…
So…
P.S. Whilst infinite human stupidity appears probable, we’ve yet to measure up against AGI… After all it appears some believe we are doomed by our own folly… Some because they believe in a vengeful deity against whom there is no defence. Others because they feel based on history that some idiot will give the AI agency to an existential threat like nuclear launch codes or a bio-weapon factory. Me I’m thinking more along the lines of the start being,
“Neo-con tech-bois short term power grabs will put us into a corporate war and global economic meltdown.”
And when that snowball puppy starts rolling down the mountain it won’t be fun and games any more. And we will get a bush meat or similar zoonotic cross over and some lifeless virus will wipe us off the face of the planet. Or we won’t prevent one of those 60,000 year asteroid events and we will likewise get wiped of the the face of the planet.
They’ve nearly happened before so,
“What is to stop them happening again but as ground zero for a global annihilation event?”
Now where is that book of “happy thoughts” I appear to have misplaced it 😉

Or we won’t prevent one of those 60,000 year asteroid events and we will likewise get wiped of the the face of the planet.
As for your Doomsday expectations, I take the hint from the movie “Don’t look up”, ie, all of the above.
But rejecting vaccines in the face of ebola is a good second.
Remember that stupidity is not a lack of intelligence, but the conviction that you don’t have to think because you already “know” what is good/the truth.

However I would not rule out Randall hearing about the Emudhra[1] from another news source, and seeing the irony in it.
Oh for those that can remember back to the early 1970’s there was a song that had the lyric,
“Four is a magic number”
And as depressing as it was, it can still be found on YouTube.
[1] Does anyone know how “Emudhra” is supposed to be pronounced, I do not think it would be “Emu-duh-ra”…
ResearcherZero • October 21, 2026 11:58 PM
@Clive Robinson
Companies selling insecure products, without anyone in charge understanding how their product works, is a concerning matter. Because their are so many digital products pumped out at volume around the world, it is very difficult for experts to test all of them.
It’s likely that other companies took the Emudhras certs and popped them in their products, without an easily utilized method for updating and invalidating said certificates.
It is also likely that the problem of insufficient technical comprehension is widespread across many domains and sectors. Not helped by wild rumor, unqualified commentary by political figures, and unhelpful excuses made by senior officials or executives which do nothing to resolve situations.
I was told by senior officials following early incidents of directed energy attack, that the details would be kept secret and no action would be taken to avoid public panic. The reasoning behind this was, that people may confuse cellular networks and wireless technologies, with the effects of directed energy weapons. The cellular network was just beginning to be rolled out and the licensing of microwave technology was taking place.
Excuses of the kind, do nothing to address the issue at hand and hinder official inquiry.
A thorough investigation by a well resourced and dedicated team could have dealt with the issue far more effectively at the time, had it been treated as a serious incident. This would have allowed rigorous scientific observation and documentation if authorized.
There were four incidents where known agents of Unit 29155 were detained at the scene of the incident with the directed energy weapons in hand. Not yet backpack-sized at the time, but capable of fitting into the backseat of a car. All excellent opportunities for official investigation that would rule-out immediately if the reports were accurate.
Fear and disbelief often cloud reasonable judgement. We had extraordinary evidence. The preconceived ideas held by technically unqualified people in senior positions, allowed a very fortunate opportunity to slip away. Something far too common in relationship between intelligence reporting – and those receiving it. They do not understand or comprehend it.
Seeing and experiencing is believing. There are better ways to understand cause and affect, than testing a bow and arrow one yourself, a knife, a gun, a cannon or a Tomahawk missile.
The police however insist on testing tasers on themselves and colleagues, or bystanders.
Political convenience< outweighed the well-being of those who were subjected to debilitating, covert attack. Although senior officials were well aware of the nature and details of the threat, they feared raising the issue would lead to them being fired from their job. The same problem in the 80's, repeated in the 90's, then in the United States.
Regan, the CIA Director and other senior officials at the time did not doubt the incidents, the perpetrators or the viability of the technology for a second. However, once The Wall came down and the Soviet Union was no longer seen as a threat, arrogance asserted itself.

Mobile information technology affords not first-hand experience, expertise or wisdom. Those without rigorous first-hand experience and expertise, are not granted gifts of cross-discipline knowledge automatically, in fields outside of their practice, even if it might seem to relate their profession. As a physicist is constrained to their narrow fieldwork.
Botany, astronomy, medicine. Every practitioner specializes. None can hope to learn or discover all that is on offer. Paper, algebra, gun-powder, glass… all unknown as the heavens until first-contact. It is why we have fields of study and research within each of the disciplines. Earth’s species are many, just as the stars are innumerable, and number sets and patterns endless in diversity. Our mobile phones, nor our diplomas cannot free us from our ignorance. The pursuit of knowledge first requires humility before it will reward.
ResearcherZero • October 22, 2026 3:22 AM
What would be more interesting than unqualified speculation by psychologists on the feasibility of an example of technology, would be a thorough examination of what the ramifications are from an unprovoked attack by directed energy. This would be far more helpful for understanding the psychological impact of harm rendered to memory, other neurological systems, and human physiology by such a delivery mechanism.
Gaslighting in substitution of having nothing of value to add to the discussion, does little to foster trust in the professional objectivity of psychology. A more enlightened inquiry, where one speculates that the technology does exist, would actually contribute to developing an understanding of the mechanisms at play within the body and its psyche. Einstein developed relativity by using his brain.
It is through thought experiment and considering evidence otherwise overlooked, that discovery is made. Great breakthroughs were advanced by the application of analysis of the possibilities, not in their dismissal or the discounting of individual pieces of evidence. Especially when much of the evidence comes from those working with classified material that will not be handed to psychologists.
Electricity and radiant heat do not always cause burns. Light can penetrate glass to illuminate a single subject in a crowded room, or it can be directed to a single point with a lens.
Injury can occur to one among many, without an immediately obvious answer to how those nearby were not affected. There are no signs of burns to a body stunned by electricity, in the case of delivery by filaments from a taser, nor often in the case of electric shock. A long exposure to bright sunlight does not always burn the skin, nor from radiation. We can accept that there are cosmic rays that we do not fully understand passing right through us, yet exposure to some sources of high-energy emissions could cause a great deal of psychical harm. We do not even understand the processes of gravity, a force that exerts a constant effect on our lives, and shapes the reality that makes that life possible.
Gravity is catching. Along with background radiation, it effects everyone in mysterious ways, without being labeled Mass Hysteria, or suggestions that those subjected to it are confused by insect chirps.
Much of the technology common in our homes today was once the realm of fantasy, fiction and doubt.
Currently treatments for those subjected to confirmed cases of Havana Syndrome are limited to a small number of medicines and therapies, with no real consensus on how patients should be treated. To dismiss patients as suffering nothing more than “Mass Hysteria”, contributes nothing to treating the impact, and may overlook cases which may provide valuable information to prevent serious and permanent injury.
If the government purchase and testing of such a device is not grounds for belief, nothing will be.
Skepticism and critique can be helpful, until it is no longer constructive and purely detrimental.

“Elon Musk vowed to push back on Democratic lawmakers who may seek to use oversight powers against him if they’re able to gain control of one or both chambers of Congress.
Musk responded to a story by Politico that detailed how Democrats have considered ways in which they could investigate the billionaire and his businesses like Tesla and SpaceX.

It is only corrupt if someone else is doing it, right? It’s only a crime if you’re caught.
Compliance procedures are designed to prevent waste, fraud and abuse of expensive contracts for products and services provided to government by private firms, or those that own them.
Musk might want to be careful attempting to swing around sharp objects that are not toys, as he is a little uncoordinated. He seems to have confused the application of the quote and what it implies. Those with something to hide are frightened of the details becoming known.
The guilty always talk about anything other than the details of what took place in order to deflect attention away from the substance of what they got up to. Conspiracy, accusations of “witch hunts” and complaints that an inquiry into their actions is unfairly motivated.
These are the same people who previously called for inquiry into other individuals and demanded openness and transparency from government. Railed against censorship or cover-up, slammed government waste, fraud and abuse – then poured millions into rigging the system in their own favor and influencing the outcome of elections at home and abroad.
Lobbying, schmoozing. Using personal wealth and influence to buy access. Get a job inside the government, then decry even the suggestion that might deserve a little scrutiny! Have their values suddenly shifted and they no longer believe in openness and transparency?
There are an awful lot of people who know the details of the procurement process, and who ignored all of the steps involved with probity and compliance. For those who follow the procedures, there is nothing to fear. Those who cheat the system may have reason to worry.

With regards the Canadian Government “mediation”
This is an excercise in what used to be called “Kicking it into the long grass” in Britain, till there were so many examples of politicians on the take and hiding behind it, there was no longer any room.
If you want a classic example the Grenfell tower block cladding fire,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grenfell_Tower_fire
The reality is it is a long series of events from the 1960’s to solve UK housing “on the cheep” by so many people in authority, business, and even safety organisations. That it became the “perfect storm conditions” and so the tragic events happened. And there are hundreds of other buildings where the same could happen at any time.
The trick is to give the guilty time to die of old age and the companies to change hands multiple times etc. The result is most likely that nobody alive will be sanctioned and the companies under new names etc will make significant new profits from the trouble they created…
This is the way things are done with potential scandals and will continue to do so long after our grandchildren –if we have them– will be to old to care.

@ Bruce, ALL,
One that is definitely in your wheelhouse currently,
The Alien Space of Science: Sampling Coherent but Cognitively Unavailable Research Directions
Scientific discovery is constrained not only by what is true, but by what is cognitively available to researchers.
“Many directions are coherent in light of the literature yet unlikely to be proposed because no existing community combines the relevant concepts, methods, and intuitions. Modern language models inherit this bias, recombining high-density regions of the literature when prompted for novel ideas. We target the complementary region, the alien space of science: directions that are scientifically plausible but unlikely under the distribution of existing researchers. Our method decomposes papers into conceptual units and clusters them into a vocabulary of idea atoms. A coherence model scores whether atom combinations form viable research directions, while an availability model scores whether any existing author community is positioned to produce them. We rank combinations to maximize coherence while minimizing availability. On 16,068 peer-reviewed LLM papers from NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, and major NLP venues, the sampler produces more diverse research portfolios than frontier LLM baselines, including batch-prompted variants that see their entire output, while matching or exceeding their per-idea quality under blind human, LLM, and downstream experimental evaluation.“
https://arxiv.org/abs/2603.01092
In a way it’s not unlike the “Six degrees” game, where you try and find a minimum path between linked individuals.
Only this game is in effect about linking ideas.
Thus is better than “fuzzing outward” which I’ve talked about before as a way of finding new vulnerabilities and exploits with Current AI.

I don’t know if you are upto speed on this or not,
https://edition.cnn.com/2026/10/21/politics/heat-ray-weapon-dhs-pentagon
From previous descriptions the ADS is a very high frequency microwave device that goes through traditional clothing and dumps energy into the top few millimetres of flesh.
Like a microwave oven it will cause damage to the flesh and nerves. One reason it’s not been deployed is the fact it has the same effects of peripheral neuropathy and it’s been reasoned that anyone who has an existing autoimmune disease such as diabetes would be orders of magnitude more susceptable to irreversible nerve damage.
The flat plate antenna is a form of “phased array” for beamforming and the plate antenna diameter to wavelength ratio suggests a operator controlled beam width much like a theater spot light to flood light equivalence.
The important thing to note is I’ve not seen any information as to if the ADS can be envelope modulated. If it can then it could easily induce the equivalent of “Miners white finger” of as the US NFL was forced into recognising “chronic traumatic encephalopathy”(CTE).
You might want to look CTE up as I’ve mentioned before the “insults” to the brain and CNS do not have to be from a direct physical energy cause, pulsed microwaves are known to impart similar energy signatures to the CNS and PNS.

Now that reports of classified blueprints turning up in Norway, and backpack-sized devices in the flow of illicit goods, the beginnings of proliferation are taking place. These are not the kinds of devices that should be making an appearance in civilian neighbourhoods.
Nor should such devices be used against human targets (intentionally or not) in war zones.
They make no noise, leave behind no physical evidence and can inflict permanent and debilitating injury to the body and brain. With increase in power and exposure these devices may eventually become lethal, or lead to lethal complications. They also harm the memory centers of the brain and can cause cognitive impairment, affecting speech and movement. Compounding effects to risk factors for heredity disease may be expressed.
When we let loose volatile technologies into the environment, the effects are unpredictable.

Investigations have revealed that incidents took place across the globe and began long before Havana. Much of the evidence never made it into official government reports. AHI victims were gaslighted and any mention of a state actor was forbidden to be mentioned.
A mountain of evidence, signals intelligence, CCTV, and foreign operatives at the scene.
Solid evidence, travel patterns and phone calls between foreign intelligence agents had established motive and opportunity for these agents to be responsible for the incidents.
PBS – government cover-up of Havana Syndrome
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_El5EwhSRuk
While the U.S. government at least has acknowledged that it obtained an energy weapon on the Russian black market, that produces the very same effects as those that took place in incidents labelled as “Havana Syndrome”, these incidents are still reffered to as “Mass Hysteria” by articles in psychology journals. Testing of the device by the DoD has confirmed the effects are very real. As have other tests conducted in Norway by a scientific researcher, who wishing to dispel the effects as a myth, tested a device on himself.
Remote diagnosis without consultation with a patient is considered unreliable. The term itself Havana Syndrome resulted due to a long running government cover-up of earlier incidents that took place well before 2016 and outside of Cuba. Incidents were investigated by government agencies (including the CIA) in Western countries and in Europe, long before the Havana incidents became publicly known.
Yet, Western governments remain silent about how long they have known, hiding behind the excuse of “medical privacy” to withhold the records of earlier incidents that were investigated. Admitting that medical testing and investigations took place, through silence. For many, many years governments played dumb, allowed the attacks to continue and those subjected to the attacks to suffer in silence while being mistreated and mocked.

“We now believe there are directed-energy weapons that can do this, and we believe that in a subset of the large body of cases, that’s what happened,” Zill de Granados said.
…Though the CIA and other agencies claim there will be a comprehensive review of all evidence, this will not happen without an independent, public inquiry. Any such review will not publicly disclose that the CIA, other U.S. and allied agencies, were tracking Unit 29155 and the activities of the GRU, along with incidents of their use of microwave energy weapons and related surveillance operations since the 1980’s. Acknowledging that many publicly unreported cases took place, would be acknowledgement of negligence and a failure to respond to a long-term attack by a foreign power on home soil. It would demonstrate an ongoing inability to prevent or respond to attacks.
At least 1,500 people across multiple continents have been subjected to the attacks.
