This TED talk might be of interest to you.
Part of it talks about a squid symbiosis with bioluminescent bacteria.
The squid uses the bacteria to glow at the same brightness as the star & moon light striking it from above, so the squid does not cast a shadow beneath it. Thus acting like a stealth attack vehicle.

Could someone explain to me what the inside joke about the squid is? I'm not getting it, maybe because I'm a foreigner.
