"Family Guy" on Airport Security
Funny clip.
EDITED TO ADD (1/8): Amazingly enough, this was aired before 9/11. I think it makes better satire now.

There are days when The Family Guy really hits home with it’s satire (then there are the days when it’s just another Frank Sinatra parody)… This was a good one, thanks Bruce.

Realize that this was animated / aired BEFORE 9/11. And it was removed from the dvd release since the dvd was released after 9/11.
it’s funny to note, though, that this originally aired in May, 2000

In case you missed it from the previous 3 comments, it was made pre 9/11
Flynn • January 8, 2007 2:27 PM
So… was this before or after 9/11?
UnAnonymous • January 8, 2007 2:38 PM
Lol! Hilarious sequence of comments. Can we have some support for people having disorders here…
Stew • January 8, 2007 2:38 PM
Nash is wrong in one regard. It’s on the DVD, at least in the UK.

“Realize that this was animated / aired BEFORE 9/11. And it was removed from the dvd release since the dvd was released after 9/11.”
I did not.
How odd; it’s better satire after 9/11.

Conspiracy theory #699: The writers/producers of The Family Guy, in collusion with FoxNews were involved in the planning of 9/11…

How do the reverse vampires fit in?

Don’t forget the saucer people and the RAND corporation!!

You know you’ve jumped the shark when you use YouTube as the subject of a post.
Would you believe if I told you some stupid judge has ordered all backbones to block access to youtube yesterday in Brazil? He acted because of an action from a celebrity caught having sex on the beach. Since the videos keep comming faster than youtube can take them out, he decided to shut the whole thing down. Hopefully this will be overrulled by the weekend.
Please Eat My Pies • January 8, 2007 9:59 PM
Haha, i read about that Brazilian judge. Insane.

That’s a pretty funny clip. Hence I expect comments to be disabled shortly.

Regarding the brazillian ban on youtube, it’s funny that Youtube’s owner, Google, still has the video up on Google Video 🙂
greg • January 9, 2007 4:15 AM
Yes its funny. Its also accurate. There is a very real human factor in “screening”.

Yo TorUser, this is Bruce’s personal blog. He’s completely entitled to however much mindless link propagation he likes. I mean, for God’s sake, the man links to pictures of SQUID every Friday! And you’re complaining about a Family Guy clip? 😉
bob • January 9, 2007 9:19 AM
“jumped the shark”? I thought we were talking about squid? (squids?)
AnotherToruser • January 9, 2007 10:02 AM
@JV. It makes sense if you view it through the lens of Brazilian law. There exists the law that people have a right to control all aspects of their image. It implies that you are in control of all your personal information. This may be an extreme case, but really is within the maze of Brazillian laws.
markm • January 9, 2007 10:44 AM
Whatever the Brazilian law is, this court order is going to be as effective as the order King Canute gave to the sea.

In a similar vein, here is a link to today’s editorial cartoon in the Globe and Mail (‘Canada’s National Newspaper’).
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/v5/images/newspaper/20070109/cartoon-600.png
It refers to the story of a scorpion that hid itself in a Canadian traveller’s backpack which was then brought on board a flight from Costa Rica to Toronto. The scorpion got loose in the cabin and stung the Canadian during the flight.
bob • January 9, 2007 11:05 AM
Wait a minute! Did the scorpion have a government issued ID?

Why can’t we have threaded comments ubiquitous on blogs?? It might make them readable.
Scarybug • January 9, 2007 4:58 PM
The show is just “Family Guy”, not “The Family Guy”.
I know this because I made the mistake of calling it the former on a forum once and I got kicked out of the intertubes.

Another good terrorism perspective cartoon:

Wow. Wicked satire. Can that be true about Seth MacFarlane? Hmmm.
