That looks uncannily like the cartoon germs used in TV adverts for bleach and other cleaners.

Bear in mind that the colors, as in all scanning electron micrographs, are fake.

I'd been skipping the squid stuff till now.
I agree -- Wow! Do you suppose those suckers are actually tiny mouths themselves, that chew?

I didn't know about the added colours but that explains the muppet like similarities.
