I think the SFWA one is a reference to Margaret Atwood's comment that science fiction is all about talking squids in space (in support of her strange opinion that she doesn't write science fiction).

Off-topic: Heathrow is going to start fingerprinting all *domestic* passengers.

Nice/not so good is a matter of personal taste. I like both shirts!

If a giant squid started attacking my town, I'd be singing "Go! Go! Godzilla!" But then, I'm a weirdo who listens to classical music and death metal, and reads about string theory while watching professional wrestling. There are so many interesting things in this world!

@Wim L:

That was "talking squid in outer space", specifically to distinguish sf from _Oryx and Crake_.

This being the internets, the meme then got totally out of hand to the point of developing its own site: http://www.talkingsquidsinouterspace.com/

I just saw this over on googlesightseeing.com

Could be...or not.

I have to admit I like the 2nd design immensely. Perhaps it is just personal taste, but having some experience with making t-shirts I'd say you were onto a winner there! Well done - will there be any more?
