Lee Morris • March 24, 2006 4:31 PM Overweight squids shouldn't wear stripes... it does nothing for the figure :-) Nobby Nuts • March 24, 2006 5:50 PM Fffwwwoooaaaarrr!! Bruce, people have asked you time and time again to mark stuff that's not safe for work! We live in an increasingly litigious society, you know, and some of us could lose our jobs ... Vicki • March 24, 2006 8:01 PM That is a fine cute squid, as my partner volunteered when I showed it to him. Stu Savory • March 24, 2006 11:11 PM Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings : (at a UK primary school) : "Squid are better'n Octopussys 'cos they've got TEN big testacles (sic)." Guess we have to give that kid a quick spelling lesson ;-) Meg • March 25, 2006 1:09 PM I'm not sure I understand why Friday squid blogging, but cute pictures of cephalopods are always appreciated. JoeDoe • March 25, 2006 5:09 PM Ahhhh....so cute!!!! I've been a fan of the squid since childhood...Friday Squid Blogging ROCKS! Please continue! Rob Mayfield • March 25, 2006 11:35 PM It's a great picture, but it would be even better if it included a recipe and a recommendation of a good wine to accompany the dish ... Clive Robinson • March 27, 2006 7:18 AM @Prohias You most certainly do not eat the giant squid, as it uses amonia in it's swim bladder for controling it's elevation, the taste and smell compleatly permiate the entire creature (when it's dead, nobody has been near a live one to tell if it can control the smell or not ;) @Bruce, Bit of side knowledge as you mentioned "Cute cats" did you know that the brain of the giant octopus is about the same size as that of the cat? Also even the smaller species exhibit some quite extrodinary skills that can only be described as intelegent (including guile). anonymous • March 27, 2006 12:32 PM @Clive But isn't this a cuttlefish? I've seen them (likely not this particular species) on sushi menus... mud and flame • March 27, 2006 3:45 PM It is a cuttlefish. The common name of Striped Pyjama Squid is a misnomer. But I guess "Friday Decapod Blogging" doesn't have the same ring to it. Bob • March 28, 2006 10:28 AM In case you hadn't seen it yet: Currently wielding one of my favourite shirts at the top of the page, and squid hats for cats lower down.
