The conference will start on June 4 and run two days, finishing end of day on June 5. There will be a welcome reception on Sunday, June 3, and a conference dinner on Monday, June 4.
Google is sponsoring SHB 2012. The conference will be held at the New York offices of Google, at 76 Ninth Ave. In addition to the space, Google is providing all the at-conference refreshments and some of the funding.
Because of Google’s generosity, we are able to reduce the registration fee to the token amount of $125 per person. This is the cost for industry, academic, and student attendees. There are limited stipend funds available if attendance would otherwise be difficult.
This is an invitational conference, so please don’t register unless you received an invitation. And if you did receive an invitation, please do register, even though we already know you’re coming.
New York is an expensive town to stay in, but we hope that the high hotel rates will be offset by the low registration fee.
Below is a list of nearby hotels, with the distance from the Google offices and very approximate per-night rates. Note that in all cases, the rate is before tax, which is around 15%. In many cases, lower rates are available by prepaying the entire amount. It might also be worth checking out hotels.com or similar discount hotel sites.
