Travel to Yale

This conference is being held on the Yale campus at Henry R. Luce Hall located at 34 Hillhouse Avenue in New Haven, Connecticut.  All invited participants are expected to cover their own transportation and lodging costs to attend.  The information below is designed to help you plan your trip.

Air Travel

Please be aware that New Haven is not the easiest place to get to by air since most major airports are an hour or more away.  Here is a list of the nearest airports:

Connecting Ground Transportation

If you are flying into Tweed New Haven Airport, you can take a taxi or rideshare service like Uber or Lyft to your hotel or to the Yale campus (approximately 15 minutes from Tweed Airport).

If you are flying into Bradley International Airport (BDL), we suggest a taxi or rideshare service like Uber or Lyft for the estimated one-hour trip from Bradley to New Haven. Car rental is also available at Bradley Airport.

If you are flying into Newark International Airport (EWR), the airport has a direct connection to Amtrak rail service traveling to New Haven Union Station. Please leave ample time when scheduling connecting flights and trains.

If you are flying into one of the New York City airports (LaGuardia Airport/LGA or Kennedy Airport/JFK), you can try arranging for rideshare service like Uber or Lyft, or make reservations with a private car service.  Price points vary depending on the service you use.

Other options include:

  • Taking a taxi to either Grand Central Terminal (commuter service on Metro-North Railroad) or to Penn Station (Amtrak) and catching a train to New Haven.
  • Shared shuttle services such as GO Airport Shuttle or Red Dot Airport Shuttle. (Be aware that shared shuttle rides will have multiple stops for multiple passengers and could take extra time.)
  • Car rental

Amtrak Train Travel

Amtrak train service is available to New Haven Union Station along the northeast corridor from Boston to Washington, DC (and points in between). Amtrak offers economy class, business class, and first class services.

NOTE: If you are flying into Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), the airport has a direct connection to Amtrak train service.  Just be sure to leave ample time when scheduling connecting flights and trains.

Commuter Train Travel from NYC on Metro-North

Metro-North Railroad provides more frequent and economical commuter rail service between Grand Central Terminal in New York City and Union Station in New Haven.  Visit their website for times and fares.
