From the “Statement of Purpose”:
[Homeland security] is about the collective strength of the entire country working to create and sustain a homeland that is safe and secure, and in which American interests, aspirations, and way of life can thrive.
Then what’s our homeland security about?
While I’m certain that entering a homeland security essay contest would be exactly as fun as it sounds, I strangely have very little interest. Now, if it was a homeland security sarcasm contest? Sure, sign me up.

I saw this:

I think it’s a good candidate for the essay contest.

And the big prize is 500 USD ? Do they honestly think anybody with a real idea will just give that away for 500 USD ? Oh well, if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.

This has me very concerned. The president now has his own police force. they have in the past been involved in bio-weapons manufacturing under G.W. Bush at TEXAS AM… And there has been breeches in Texas and Washington state. I believe Bush planned to be still in office when he authorized production of these bio-weapons… He had Homeland security fund and run whole operation with a bunch of college kids stand foreign students.

Homeland security strives to adapt these traditional functions to confront terrorism and disasters along with new threats and evolving hazards — such as proliferation, cyber, transnational crime, violent extremism, stability and security of the space environment, economics, education, climate changes, energy, water and food security, and health threats.
–Holy sh*t, what is the “space environment, entire U.S.?! Food security?! Energy?!Water?!-Take your trolling elsewhere!!! Secure your own if you care at all!!!
I have an idea, but I gave it to someone who payed $600!!!!!

The topic is: What is a dangerous idea you have about homeland security, and why is it dangerous?
Here’s a dangerous idea for you: Freedom

Does anyone else find it disturbing that the Statement of Purpose of homeland security includes “economics, education, climate changes, energy, water and food security, and health threats” ? How is this concept of homeland security different from “government,” itself? It’s an interesting spin on the police state — everything affects security, so a security agency has authority over everything.
