It’s interesting to think that we are way, way more related to squid like that than we would ever be to any sort of alien life, should we ever discover any.

This squid is from a group of rarely seen cephalopods with a very distinctive morphology. They are placed in the genus Magnapinna and family Magnapinnidae.
This type of squid is commonly referred to as “big fin squid” or “long armed squid.”
A truly amazing creature.
